On Holy Thursday we entered into the Triduum at the Mass of the Lord's Supper. As we approached Good Friday and Jesus' suffering and death, we remembered that one of his last acts before his death was the Last Supper-the institution of the Eucharist-when he gave his own Body and Blood to his apostles and instituted the priesthood, instructing them to also give us his Body and Blood. At this Mass the priest washes the feet of a group of parishioners. This act reminds us of Jesus' washing of his disciple's feet and his call to love and serve others as he did. At the end of Mass, the priest processes with Jesus in the Eucharist to the altar of repose where adoration continues until midnight. It is a beautiful time to stay with Jesus and watch with him as we anticipate Good Friday.
