Palm Sunday

On Palm Sunday we are invited to experience Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. For many of us it may be hard to really experience the excitement of that day because we already know the whole story. We already know that these people will turn on him. We already know the horror of what is coming. But take a moment and feel that excitement. Feel the thrill of the crowd. Hear the singing. See the tears of joy. They are so overwhelmed by his presence that they throw their cloaks on the road in front of him to create a path. Hear his disciples crying out with joy for all the mighty deeds they have seen, as they say, "Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord."

From this place of joy, Jesus asks us, "but will you follow me even to the cross?" As he prepares for his death at the Last Supper, he tells us that he has "eagerly desired" to eat this Passover with us. In these words, he expresses the abyss of his love and longing for us. Whether you're in a Palm Sunday moment or a Good Friday moment, never be afraid to follow Jesus. He desires you and he will never leave you.  When it feels too hard or the darkness is closing in, reach out and hold his hand. He will always lead you to Easter and eternal life with him!
